Submarine Honeymoon Adventures
I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but I’m glad I said yes. I had the opportunity to go 100 feet into the ocean and discover a whole new world in one small corner of the Pacific Ocean.
Not in a wet suit.
No oxygen tank.
No diving gear whatsoever.
I was going in a submarine.
Living the life of a “yes” person, nodding my head in agreement to all the opportunities life has to offer, I found myself quite anxious the morning of the tour.
We walked from the Hyatt where we were staying all the way to the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we were to check in for the tour. It was a good half an hour walk which helped get rid of some of the jitters.
Our Atlantis boat arrived and we waited until the previous passengers emptied the vessel.
Then came our turn to board.
There was no turning back.
The ride to the spot was a gorgeous one. We headed towards Diamond Head and were surrounded by phenomenal sweeping views of the Waikiki shoreline, surfers, and other people playing in the water. We even spotted a couple of turtles and some dolphins.
That was exhilarating.
Here go.
One by one, we transferred from our boat onto the sub and climbed down the lower deck where there were two rows of seats arranged back-to-back with each seat facing a round window looking out into the water.
We started our descent.
20 feet.
40.
60.
80.
We finally reached a hundred.
Different kinds of fish swam in front of us. It felt as if we were submerged in a large aquarium and we were right there with them and not merely on the outside looking in.
The tour guide was very entertaining and shared a lot of interesting history on everything that passed our view. He engaged our group as if we were the very first group he’s ever led. The relaxed enthusiasm and humor he infused the tour made it thoroughly enjoyable.
The experience was absolutely one for the books and if you and your future hubby/wife are planning on spending your honeymoon in Waikiki, I highly recommend booking a submarine tour with Atlantis Adventures.
This underwater paradise awaits you.
